Calumet Park is located approximately sixteen miles from Downtown Chicago. Citizens of the village have big city living in arms reach, but also have the luxury of coming home to a small-town community. Mayor Ronald Denson serves as the village president, in which he upholds the village’s top three priorities: community commerce, community collaboration, and community condition. The mayor’s office and current administration have honed in on bringing new commerce into the village. According to the Calumet Park Economic Development team, for over 20 years, Calumet Park has been the Chicago Southland area leader at implementing incentives to encourage economic development. Residents are well positioned to support local business, since the median household income is $47,668. With easy access to Interstate 57, Metra, and the railroad depot, there are various outlets for non-residents to patronize local businesses and boost an ever-growing economy.
Mayor Denson stated, “My staff and I stand ready to meet and work with developers on commercial and industrial projects.” Denson expressed to new business prospects, “We encourage you to make use of us, and the resources that Calumet Park can provide. We look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming your business to our Village.”
There are many ways the officials of Calumet Park seeks to connect with the community. The village’s recreation center, senior center, Chamber of Commerce, and the school district serve as a hub for community events that help establish camaraderie between Mayor Denson, other notable officials and fellow residents. The town looks forward to the annual community festival held every Summer.
Improving the quality of life for all residents is another main objective of this administration. Calumet Park houses the first emergency center in Cook County with the ability to accept 911 calls and text-to-911 messages. Mayor Denson stated, “As I stand here in the hub of our new state-of-the-art 911 Center (CALCOMM 9-1-1), I marvel at how (our) collective effort always brings progress.”
The plan to improve the quality of community, business and public safety has established Calumet Park as a viable place to reside. Mayor Ronald Denson is confident his philosophy will continue to add value to the city.
